Core Strengthening Exercise Class- “Restore”

Restore | After Pregnancy | Progressive Physical Therapy LLC

Who: For anyone who wants to strengthen their core including deep abdominals and pelvic floor.

Why: A weak core can lead to many physical issues including:

  • Back pain
  • Hip pain and tightness
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction postpartum
  • Incontinence
  • Pelvic pain
  • Abdominal separation and protrusion
  • Postural weakness
  • Neck pain

Often, these problems can be prevented or resolved with appropriate instruction. Our program offers small group instruction led by a trained pelvic PT or PTA, making it safe and effective for all body types and fitness levels.

When: Classes are currently being offered Tuesday mornings at 8:30am in Midlothian and Friday afternoons at 11am in Mechanicsville. Other times may be available upon request. Classes are 45 minutes.

The Program:

  • Initial visit with a Physical Therapist (if you are not a current client):
    • Evaluation of abdominal and pelvic floor muscle function and strength
    • Low back, pelvis, hip examination, if indicated
    • Initial instruction/Education:
      • Pelvic floor and abdominal muscle activation including real time ultrasound use for biofeedback
  • 1x/week Restore core strengthening class
