Core Strengthening Exercise Class- “Restore”
Who: For anyone who wants to strengthen their core including deep abdominals and pelvic floor.
Why: A weak core can lead to many physical issues including:
- Back pain
- Hip pain and tightness
- Pelvic floor dysfunction postpartum
- Incontinence
- Pelvic pain
- Abdominal separation and protrusion
- Postural weakness
- Neck pain
Often, these problems can be prevented or resolved with appropriate instruction. Our program offers small group instruction led by a trained pelvic PT or PTA, making it safe and effective for all body types and fitness levels.
When: Classes are currently being offered Tuesday mornings at 8:30am in Midlothian and Friday afternoons at 11am in Mechanicsville. Other times may be available upon request. Classes are 45 minutes.
The Program:
- Initial visit with a Physical Therapist (if you are not a current client):
- Evaluation of abdominal and pelvic floor muscle function and strength
- Low back, pelvis, hip examination, if indicated
- Initial instruction/Education:
- Pelvic floor and abdominal muscle activation including real time ultrasound use for biofeedback
- 1x/week Restore core strengthening class
